On line you can go to http://www.summitracing.com and determine which posi unit you want to install. With an automatic I would recommend a final drive ratio of about 3:90. Lower if you want low speed acceleration, higher if you want mileage. The shop flat rate to do this job is 4 hours to replace the whole diff and 6 hours to re build using locker side gears. Just multiply your shop rate by the time, add in the part prices and you have an estimate.

gmperformanceparts.com Now as far as what rearend gears ya want ,well what do ya want to run it in. Dragstrip with a stall speed converter you can go as high a 5.13. If ya want a top end runner go with something in the 2.3,4,5 range and if ya want it for street /strip4.11 is a good setup and no stall speed converter for the tranny is needed. What have you done to the engine? Is it stock or built The cam size will also determine the stall speed converter needed as well as compression and stroke

I would go with 3.55 gears and an alburn posi unit, you can get all these parts from summit racing 1-800-230-3030.

the labor is around 4 - 6 hours, depending on what gets changed. My brother's shop charges 84.25/hour, so 60.00/hour is a good price
