If the Trac On light is on due to you being able to turn it on with a switch, then it is just telling you that the traction control is on,but most GM vehicles do not have a switch which would give you a choice (except light trucks 2004 and newer). The traction control works in conjunction with your anti-lock brake system which gets it's information from the wheel speed sensors in the hub/bearing assemblies. If it flashes, and you hear and feel a slight rumbling,it is working like it is supposed to,but if it is on all of the time, you need to have it looked at to see if one of the sensors is failing.

In Pontiacs, it does NOT mean that the traction control is turned on. It means that you are losing traction, i.e. you are spinning a wheel. My wife's '97 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP has this - and isn't even offered with traction control. The light goes on anytime a tyre spins.

In other cars, it means that the traction control system is activated and working correctly. You need to read the owners manual for your specific car to be sure.

You have some sort of traction control either controlled by your cars computer or by a switch on the dashboard. That light is telling you that it is on.

My van has a button that you can swith the TC off. Mine is by the rear defrost etc. When the TC kicks in, I can hear and feel almost like a grinding noise.

Just leave it on, no biggie.
