There's a toilet in our house that suddenly sprang a VERY SLIGHT leak. It's in the front of the bowl right where the bowl meets the tile floor. Basically, a segment of the caulk joining the bowl to the floor became gooey, and water VERY SLOWLY leaks out at a very slow rate.
It's very minor, but clearly something needs to be done (I'll probably have to take this apart.)
The bowl is still full though, and flushes fine.

Any guesses as to what the problem could be here?

One other thing to remember when changing the wax ring, when you remove the toilet, plug the hole with a rag during clean up and what not (sewer gases in the home=bad), just remember to remove the rag when reinstalling, because, as I may or may not know from experience, you can get a lot of practice replacing these if you forget this step:)

Yes, the wax ring at the base of the toilet needs to be replaced. It is a simple repair. Go to the store and buy a new wax ring.
Turn off the water to the tank.
Flush the toilet, so all the water in the tank goes out. Remove the water supply line to the tank, remove the bolts holding the toilet to the floor.
Remove the wax ring, clean the area of left over wax. Place the new wax ring on the flange on the floor. Carefully place the toilet back on the ring. Sit on the toilet, so your weight compresses the wax ring.
Bolt the toilet back down, reattach the water supply line, turn on the water, and verify the supply line is not leaking. Clean up your mess, and your ready to go!

You may want to wear latex gloves when doing this. If you're anything like me, I strongly advise you to. Keep in mind that when you lift the toilet off its base, don't set it on any carpeting. You also should check the porcelain around where the leak is coming from for cracks. If you do find any cracks, DO NOT reuse that toilet, it could easily shatter at the worst time possible causing a very big mess. And remember "A flush beats a full house."

your problem is the wax seal has gone bad... replace the seal with a new one and problem solved... to do this turn off the water to the toilet and flush it.u can use a plunger to force the water left in the bowl if u wish. next take off the nuts and bolts on both sides of the bowl at bottom.pull the toilet off the flange and set to the side... u can clean the old wax seal off or just install the new one on the flange.place the toilet back on the flange and tighten the nuts... be sure not to tighten them to much or it will crack the toilet... hook the water back up and flush away... good luck

The wax o ring under your toilet is probably old and cracked, empty tank disconnect lines remove tank unscrew two bolts and bottom and remove bowl. Remove old wax o ring and replace with new at room temp (not cold will crack) and reasemble. problem solved. Will take 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours and some simple tools and silicone tape.

You probably need to replace an old wax ring. It's not difficult to do, just a little time consuming.
