stopwar1... probably had the best answer. I built my first car, and when things got hard at school, or I just wanted to vent some steam, I went into the garage and worked on my car. Would you rather him vent your way?

Also, most guys naturally like cars. I know that I wash my car every weekend when I can, but it's not like I'm dating it, it's because I like for it to be clean. I spend a lot of time in my car, and your car is your first impression to a lot of people...on the road, in the parking lot and inthe driveway. If I go to a meeting, and I see a guy pull up in a brand new BMW...that's dirty...it makes an impression on me that this person has a different side to them. I mean, how can one go out and spend anywhere from $1,000 to $250,000 on a car, but then not wash it? It's an investment that you should protect.

I guess overall, don't take it personal. If you find that he has motor oil and grease on some private places...THEN, I'd be curious, but if all he does is wash it, and CARE FOR it, then I wouldn't worry so much.

If you really like him, act interested now.

If you love him and end up married, use the time he's with his ride to do what you want...just occasionally 'check-in' with him to make sure he IS with the car and that's all that's getting polished.

Once the kids come, you'll be glad to have a man that still takes some pride. I feel sad when I see a man driving a dirty mini-van with pack of snotty-nosed children in the back! Especially when one of the little brats has finger painted "Wash Me" on the rear window.

Ladies, think about the time you spend on the "girl" stuff. It's a fair trade, wouldn't you say?

I love to detail my cars and I keep them in tip-top shape, especially my Miata. But a weekly wash, polish and wax is way overboard, even for a garage queen. A weekly wash is normal. Waxing every 2-3 weeks if you use a carnauba wax, 2-3 months if you use a synthetic "wax" is normal for a carnut. Polishing every 6 months is ok for a carnut. Tell him to read about quick detailing or using a spray wax. It will cut his time to an hour (if he's slow) every week. Also buy him a California Car Duster to remove light surface dust without having to wash the car. Polishing too much will remove paint and clearcoat if he is using an abrasive polish.

please if there is any arm you can give when ever he is busy washing the car pls do that fast he will like it. But the truth is that he really love the car and don't want any stan on it.

So he loves his car. The more care his spends on his car now, the less problems with rust he will have. He has spent a lot of money on purchasing a car and it shows he is responsible and cares for it. Don't you like looking good riding around in it. He could own a junker that you wouldn't want to be caught dead in. Leave him be!!!

Detailing one's car is a form of meditation for some. That's a way to relax. It's no more strange than spending hours watching sports programs on TV, or even playing pool.

this is normal behavior for a boys who got their first vehicle. if he decide to sell his vehicle in the future,it does not depreciate faster. it like an investment. give him some space and your relationship will last longer. it alot better then having a guy playing computer all days.

Is he on any sort of medication/drug?? Alot of men are OBSESSED with thier vehicles. I currently have 2 in the driveway that my hubby is working on. Its a daily routine at our house. I wouldnt worry about it unless he starts ignoring all his other responsibilities.

If it's a '68 Vette--no. If it's a '93 Tempo--yes.
It's prob. his hobby. My wife has soaps, shoes, etc... I've got fishing lures and tools--same thing. He could be at the strip club.
