One of Hollywood's little known facts is there really aren't professional script readers. Agents typically give the scripts to an intern or secretary to read and write a review. Many times, the mail room guys do this. Based on the review (and there are specific guidelines as to what and what not to include) - the agent may or may not read the script.
The production housed do the same. As an intern at Roger Corman's place, I was one of 4 people who's job was to read and review scripts. I was an intern and got no pay. The scripts would rotate and needed at least 2 reviews before the guy in charge of development would read our reviews. Then if he saw potential in the review, he would read the script himself.
Want to be a pro script reader? Go to a studio, agency or production house and sign up to be an intern. This would be one way to get your foot in the door. There are a lot of scripts out there that need to be read! Many, many of them... bad!
After years of doing this, you may be able to freelance and offer reading services and script doctoring to writers. But before you can do this, you will need lots of experience.
rarely does someone have the sole job of just reading scripts. Reading and evaluating scripts is such a basic job that anyone can pretty much do it.
hope this helps.

Probably apply to an agency (one that represents actors).

Script readers aren't high on the totem pole, so it probably isn't that hard.
