It seems like my brain can only take so many equations...then it just shuts down. Can someone show me the steps please??? Thank you...thank you....thank you!!!

You need to get all the x's on one side, and everything else on the other.
take 15 off of both sides
-2x/3=(-4x/6+8)-8
The parens aren't needed there:
-2x/3=-4x/6+8-8
-2x/3=-4x/6
factor a 2 out of the right
-2x/3=2(-2x/3)
Divide both sides:
(-2x/3)/(-2x/3)=2
Everything on the left cancels, and you're left with x
x=2

Sorry I'm partially asleep right now :-p heres the answer:

15 - 2x / 3 = ( -4x / 6 + 8) + 7
15 - 2x / 3 = ( -4x / 14) + 7
15*14 - 14*2x / 3 = -4x + 7*14
15*14*3 - 14*2x = -4x*3 + 7*14*3
630 - 28x = -12 + 294
336 - 28x = -12x
-16x = 336
x= 21
sub in formula
15 - 2(21) / 3 = 1
( -4(21) / 6 + 8) + 7 = 1

15 - 2x / 3 = ( -4x / 6 + 8) + 7
15 - 2x / 3 = ( -4x / 6) + 15

First, subtract -15

-2x / 3 = (-4x / 6)

Multiply by 6, because it factors to 2*3 and 3 is present on the other side of the equation.

-4x = -4x

. . .

Wait, these these are equivalent expressions. Therefore, that is true for all values of x.

15-2x /3= -4x /14+7
take the right hand side and solve it u will get -4x+98/14
take 2 common factor u will get -2x+49/7
now take the right hand side and solve u will get 45-2x /3

so (45-2x) /3= (-4x +98) / 7 multiply both sides by 21
so u will get 315 -14x= -6x+147 solving for x u will get x =21

OK, we need to simplify, right? So let's see what happens when we multiply everything by 3: 45 - 2x = -2x + 24 + 21. Fine so far, so let's get numbers on one side, variables on the other. So zero equals zero. This is of course correct, but I have the feeling that I've done something wrong here.
