A week ago, I asked whether we can simply put stamps, airmail sticker on the letter and put it in a normal mail box to mail overseas. The answers is yes. My mail goes to Hong Kong even faster than I do through the post office. The question is do you find this piece of information useful?

It really makes no difference.

The mail is collected from home and blue bins around 3-5pm.
At around 6-7 PM, the USPS truck comes and takes all the letters to sorting plants.

Not really! Without being silly it is obvious. I very much doubt if it gets there any "quicker" as mail from boxes is added to that in the post office and taken to the sorting office where it is all tipped together and sorted.

The advantage of going to the Post Office is that [hopefully] you will pay the exact postage. If you pay less than the correct amount you may get charged the excess and a penalty and the mail will be delayed.
