1. To learn about stuff I'd never otherwise get a chance to.
2. To learn about people who I'd never otherwise know anything about.
3. To be able to use the internet.
4. To read my text messages.
5. To be able to know what all those signs on the highway and streets mean so I don't get a ticket or miss my exit or drive into a construction zone (or right off an unfinished highway), etc.
6. To be able to know which train or plane to take at which gate at what time.
7. To read the warnings and directions on bottles and packages so I don't poison myself.
8. To know what contracts say so I can decide whether to sign or not.
9. To read a menu, even fast food places have menus.
10. Because I can.

**you really don't need 10 reasons but I am an avid reader and I have learned so much from reading, I am a college student and has held over a 3.00 GPA, oooh yeah I am also 25 years old and I also have a full-time job and a full-time student**

Sorry, there's only one reason. There is a limit to what we can do and where we can go in life. With the medium of literature, there is nothing you can't do and nowhere you can't go. With movies, internet, magazines, etc. - what you see is what you get. With reading, what you get is bounded only by the limitation of your imagination.
