Bunk. We had those boards in Chicago too. Personally, if I saw one, I would have glanced around and taken it home.

The devices were in several other cities as well as Boston for more than three weeks with no problems. Just from my unscientific survey of people I know, I think it ended up being a generational thing. People older than Gen X, don't understand buzz marketing and definitely didn't get that the character on the device was a Cartoon Network thing. They thought the craziness around it was justified. People Gen X and younger are used to this sort of thing and kind of shrugged their shoulders at it. I believe that maybe they could have used something other than electrical tape to hold the battery pack on, but I when I saw the device, I rolled my eyes at how seriously Boston was taking it. For God's sake, the character was giving the finger -- in Lite Brites no less!!!

it is disturbing to think that some advertising company or organization thought this would be a "good idea" or "attention grabber" -- and as someone who has spent her life as a professional (including Retiring as a Military Officer), I can assure you that (in my personal opinion), those who put this 'stunt' into motion should DEFINITELY be looked at for prosecution ... (no one can consider this a 'joke' or 'funny' in any remote way).

To put them where they did ... no wonder it got the city UPSET and the people too. I don't blame them for the reaction it caused.

I knew what those boards were because I have seen the the programs before. That scare is what the state of country seems to be. It seems that they have programed some people to have fear no matter what it may be, even an animated television show !

How could anyone who makes major decisions for a company have some marketing campaign like that come across their desk and say "Yes, I think putting things that might resemble explosive devices in major cities would be a fantastic idea!"? I think that certain things are never funny. I don't find much humor in voilence or the threat of terrorism.

what terroritst scare?

the prosecuters will have no case against these guys except maybe some kind of public nuisanse thing or something.. disorderly conduct I think is what they got. I can see why maybe somebody would think the first 1 is suspicious... but those retards took it too far in shutting down the whole damn city.

the officials in boston, not to smart. i mean the board with lites on it looks like exactly what it is. a character flipping them off. why didn't any one find it odd that it was sticking up its middle finger? and the signs had been there for weeks. so they go around blowing stuff up for no reason, and they want someone else to pay for there stupid mistake.

It is understandable how out of hand it got. I think that the police and authorities did just fine. Better to be safe then sorry.
