I am seeking a broad-based approach involving practical ways to involve non-resident Indians of all ages and backgrounds in various progress-oriented activities to help India. These may involve educational, charitable, entrepreneurial, social, religious and other areas. Although numerous such endeavors are already in operation, there is scope for a renewed and concerted effort to mobilize additonal large numbers of non-resident Indians who are very resourceful and willing to help but nonetheless lack initiative and guidance.

Spiritual progress.... be aware of their heritage....... teach the children a program such as Sathya Sai Education in Human Values which promotes prema, shanti, dharma, ahimsa and sathya (this can be taught to non-Indians too)...... there is a good flow of teachers and Gurus from India to places where there are many NRIs, encourage families to attend their talks and activities.... use at least one Indian language in daily life some of the time, not just when you have to for talking with relatives who only speak that language..... take part in charitable activity where you know from contacts in India that the people will actually benefit not just the politicians (again preferably working with non-Indians too).....

Economic..... those who run businesses can work with Indian partners as importers to the West of Indian-made goods and as channels for outsourcing to call centers, secretaries, manufacturers etc in India and maybe can train Indians to know better what Western markets need.

Political I'm not so sure, India is already good at looking after itself and not meddling with other countries' affairs. Visit Pakistan and help build understanding with Muslim Indians perhaps.

Intention / motive plays a vital role in deciding a crime. An act without intention resulting in the death of a victim is not treated as accidental death so also an act with an intention to kill should be treated as murder,.In India The punishments for various crimes start at the same time . Thus one who is sentenced to jail for 5 yrs,3yrs, 2yrs, 7 yrs remains in jail only fo 7 yrs minus the holidays. Practically he comes out after 5 years. In other countries he will have to remain in jail for 17 years. This is why criminals are not afraid of committing further crimes because he knows he is not going to be punished for his subsequent crimes. The leaders have their vested intesests in giving such statements. They should never be allowed to give their openion in such matters. They don't represent the society as such

You can't and that's a fact. NRIs are best left to themselves and not involved in money making schemes for India. Why do you think they left India in the first place?
