It works out cheaper if you can do it yourself. the first pc I opened up was to install RAM. Now I build fix and repair systems and in the process of getting Microsoft certified. It's easy just like putting lego blocks together But make sure you get the match of your RAM a stcker on the side of the RAM stick should note the make and speed of the RAM that s in your machine already. Hope this helps

Upgrading your PCs RAM is a simple process. As others have already stated, it's a matter of pushing the RAM cards into free slots.
If you click on the link below, you can select 'Scan My System'. This will mean downloading a small program onto your hard drive, and then running it. This will let Crucial identify your motherboard and see what RAM type you need. It will also check if you have free slots available, and tell you what amount of RAM you can go upto on your motherboard.
Of course, Crucial will try to sell you their RAM modules, but you don't have to do that. Simply make a note of the type of RAM, what speed it operates at, etc. and shop elsewhere.

The upgrade itself is very easy. you push a chip into the slot and you're done!
What you haven't done though is told us any details of the system you have!
What you do need to do is find out what memory your computer will take. To do this, either use software like CPU-Z (www.cpuid.com) to give details on memory type installed, or open the PC case and look at the chip(s) that are already in your PC.
Memory chips have slots in the board so you can't install the wrong type or put it in the wrong way around.
If the chip has 2 slots, then you have SD-RAM. Go to somewhere like PC World and ask for PC133 SDRAM.
If it has 1 slot, then you either have DDR-RAM or DDR2-RAM and you will need to use CPU-Z to find out which.

I wouldn't really know as i've never done this kind of thing before but it seems pretty easy and there's no point paying huge amounts when you could buy the ram and do it yourself.
Perhaps get a quotation from that store and then if you think it's too much, have a look into installing RAM yourself, there's loads of articles on the internet about it.
^o^
Good luck!
