why do people have racial preferences?

i don't really get that. if you like somebody, why does it matter?

its personal. I dont have anything against other races. But Im attracted to people of my own race because they have the "look" that I prefer and they understand my culture so dealing with someone like that is a lot easier for me

it has to do w/ your parents and the societal beauty standards you are taught.
Lotsa people are attracted to people that look distinctly different from their family, because it's 'exotic'. Conversely, many people seek familiarity in their partners.
I really don't think that racial preferences are all that awful. They run both ways. I think what's worse is to pretend that you DON'T have racial preferences, deny what one's preference actually is, and then date what is expected, instead.

I heard about this white guy who essentially had an asian fetish. He married a white chick, and after about 4-5 years, could no longer deny his preference. He then divorced the white chick to go after what he had really wanted all along.
That's the worst case scenario and horribly irresponsible and damaging to the wife. It's better that, if you have a preference, you need to accomodate it, and pursue it, instead of denying it, and hurting the people you are dating in the process.

I think if YOU don't have racial preferences in your partners you are LYING!!
Are you seriously going to tell me that you don't care one bit whether your partner is White or Asian or Black or Anything else? There's absolutely no way, there's just no way. [I say preferring your own race IS a fetish in and of itself, btw.]

i do not care as long as they have a nice smooth body, thin, sexy and able to hold a reasonable conversation would be nice. Of course exception can be made for a hot columbian.
