someone i know just had a baby the other day. she claims she didnt know she was pregnant. i find this really hard to believe. how can you not know you are pregnant. even if you are over weight you would be able to tell something was different or feel the baby moving. i find this really disturbing. my husband thinks im being to judgemental, but to me there is something seriously wrong! i personally can't wait to get pregnant (currently trying) and cant imagine denieing i was or lying about it. just wondering if anyone else has heard of this happening before and what the outcome was? thanks :o)

I have heard of a woman who claimed this. Personally, being pregnant for the 3rd time now, I say there is NO possible way you could not know. You could probably hide it from other people, but not yourself!

My cousin was 6 months along before she knew she was pregnant. She never suspected that she could be because a doctor had told her at age 18 when she had still never had a period, that she would never become pregnant. She was 20 years old when she had her first period and they did not come every month. She gained like 10 pounds and thought she was just gaining weight. She went to the doctor for a medical problem and that is when she found out she was having a baby. Now she has 3 kids.

Yeah ive heard of it. But it was on tv like documented so it's possible some women don't show and still get there periods and they think the moving is just gas or digestion. And if you knew this person and couldn't tell she was pregnant or what then what makes you think you know everything? Did she have any appointments anything indicating a baby like a book or what. But i have heard of it. My friend is kinda big and didn't know she was till 5 months. cuz she had her period and everything and didn't think she could get pregnant till a Lady was like your pregnant and she argued she wasn't but to her curiosity took a test and bam a big fat positive. and when she went for a ultra sound thinking she was only like a couple weeks got a big surprise.

It's very rare for the mother to honestly not know, but it does happen. Symptoms vary so much and are sometimes written off as other legitimate medical problems, even ones that have been diagnosed beforehand.

I actually read a story a couple years ago about a woman who had gone on a trip with her husband and some friends and ended up delivering a healthy baby while on their vacation and she hadn't known.

I've read stories from woman who say that they did not know that they were pregnant.

She was an overweight woman with previous health issues that she said had the same symptoms experienced in pregnancy (morning sickness, fetal movement). She attributed her expanding middle to her poor eating habits and lack of exercise. When she went into labor she thought that she had mild cramping from not having her period (which was present throughout her pregnancy)

There are stories like this out there so it makes me believe that someone, somewhere has experienced this. I too find it hard to believe each time I hear it.

I don't think the woman in the article was lying about her pregnancy, I think she was either in denial (as she didn't want children) or she was so unattuned to her body that she was obvilious to all the signs.

THAT IS RIDICULOUS. I CAN'T IMAGINE NOT EVER WONDERING OR THINKING YOU ARE PREGNANT WITH ALL THE CHANGES A WOMAN'S BODY GOES THROUGH - NO PERIODS, GAINING WEIGHT, THE BABY MOVING, MILK DUCTS PRODUCING MILK....DOESN'T MATTER HOW BIG YOU ARE, YOU'D NOTICE SOMETHING THAT WOULD MAKE YOU WONDER. EITHER SHE HAD HER HEAD UP HER A S S AND IS CLUELESS, OR HER DOCTOR LIED TO HER ABOUT BEING PREGNANT. I THINK SHE KNEW, SHE JUST DIDN'T WANT TO ADMIT IT. I HAVE FOUND IT REALLY HARD TO BELIEVE ANYONE IN THE MEDICAL FIELD. THEY TELL YOU OTHER THINGS ARE HAPPENING, THEN YOU GO IN, AND OH, WE WERE WRONG, YER JUST PREGNANT. NOT FUNNY.... SO FOR THIS CHICK YOU SPEAK OF, IT WAS EITHER MISINFORMED OR JUST PLAIN IGNORANCE.

My best friend in high school was born in a bathtub. Her mother was very overweight and never had regular periods. She got violently ill and surprisingly gave birth at home in the tub, much to everyones surprise, hers too.
There is a girl at my church who had lots of medical problems and her boyfriend called his mother (a retired RN) to come check on her as she was ill and in so much pain. She delivered a very sickly baby in the backseat of the car on the way to the hospital and unfortunately he later passed away. She had no idea she was pregnant either. I know, I have had 3 kids and can't imagine not knowing you are pregnant. But I personally know 2 people that this happened to. And neither of them had any reason to hide a pregnancy.

i have known people who will go all the way up to 6 months, but no longer than that. Personally I think that you need to take better care of your body if you can go that long with out realizing that anything is different about you. but going full term seems like it would be impossible to me, when you see and elbow move accross your stomach it's kinda hard to deny that you're pregnant

I know a girl that didnt know until she was 7 months. She was on depo and never got her period, and the only reason that she found out she was, was because she found a lump in her breast. It was a milk duct producing milk. I knew anouther lady that didnt find out until 8 months. She thought she was, but her doc kept telling her that she had a hernia. They did an ultra sound right before surgery to find the hurnia and found a baby. Hard to belive but not impossible.
