Don't be afraid - be very afraid! (just joking).
You should get out there on a ship, or better still a sailing yacht.
Try www.sailmatch.com.
It's an interactive site for sailors and crew to meet up and arrange day sails or longer passages. It is also a unique online dating site. Unique because ONLY yachtsmen, yachtswomen and lovers of the sea are registered on it. No one else is allowed.
Maybe you could register a free profile and get out on the water and see just how great boats are??!
Good luck, Geoff

I would say get a life! The Titanic disaster hasn't happened again due to the regulations and iceberg watches that came about as a result of that accident. All ships today have life boats for all unlike Titanic. Ships today also have water tight bulkheads that go all the way up to the main deck again not the case in Titanic. So your fears are quit pointless. If you see a car disaster movie do you walk? If you see a plane disaster movie do you stay on the ground? Stop fearing and start living as life is way too short.

When the titanic sank in 1912 there was no radar, icebergs could only be spotted by live people "lookouts". What happened to the Titanic could never happen in modern times. You would be more likely to catch one of these cruise ship viruses then to end up in the water in a lifeboat. You would be safer on a cruise ship then commuting in a car in any major city. Cruising is a wonderful way to travel, did you know that the term posh originated with cruise ships? It originated on British ships sailing from Britain to Egypt. It stood for Port out Starboard home referring to the side of the ship your accommodations were on, posh meant you always had afternoon shade on your balcony.

Stay away from icebergs and the North Atlantic. I've boated for over 20 years and haven't hit one yet. In the Finger Lakes in Central NY

Ha ha...you have nothing to worry about..Times have changed since 1914 or whenever the titanic went down! First of all, all the larger vessels have watertight bulkheads...The titanic was flawed in this respect. Also, we have radar and advanced electronics that would warn you of large obstacles ahead! Go cruising and stop stressing!

just remember that the reason the titanic sank was because the boat bumped into the iceberg. back then they thought ice bergs were only where they could see it, but it turns out below the water it got bigger. now sailors know the facts about icebergs and are cautious when it comes to them, so don't be scared because they know better now.

What exactly is your fear? Ship accidents will always happen. Fires, slips/falls, burns, and illnesses are not that rare on large ship. Ships still sink, collide, and run aground. Sailors die. Ships and boats are dangerous, but so what. Driving your car or cooking in your kitchen is much more dangerous. Face your fear and learn more about the sea and shipping. The more you understand and experience, the less you fear.

the fact that its a movie
even if it was based on a true event
it wasn't likely for a ship to do that it was the
captins fault cause he order the ship to go faster
if the boat was going slower they could have turned
it and nothing would have happened

well, you could realize that there have been many many many advancements in technology since then.

1) there are now sophisticated instruments (radar, sonar) to detect obstructions in the water. no longer are watchmen with binoculars used

2) hulls are stronger and can withstand impacts better

3) maneuverability is better so as to turn away from such obstructions

4) i guess you can say the maritime world has taken a lesson from that highly publicized accident

so in short, you can get over it.
