I'm using Windows XP and I have been having this sound distortion for a while. The sound crackles and distorts when playing video or when objects on screen are moved. The audio plays fine when the windows are minimized ie: I'm watching a movie, and if I minimize it, the sound is fine. Same with music, though it also plays fine if I don't move anything around onscreen.

I have an old, discontinued 3DRage Pro PCI video card (can't update drivers as the product is discontinued) and a Creative Live Soundblaster Value sound card.

I've also heard that Creative has had some conflicts with Windows XP (or so my very few results on Google told me), but I haven't found any solutions in that area either. My drivers are all updated for my sound card.

I'm replacing the graphics card anyway, to improve my system. Should I look into replacing the sound card too?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Another thing I heard is that it could be something with acceleration in the bios or that my motherboard is somehow conflicting with it.

i am embarrassed to admit i am still using the same soundblaster live sound card as you are...if all the drivers are still installed with it, when i get sound distortion i click from the PROGRAMS menu the creative program and it should have an option called DIAGNOSTICS, i then click the RESTORE tab or the SPEAKER tab and restore to default functions, that always clears up any sound problems im having, i can still find drivers for that card however from the creative website if u still need to re-install the entire program~~~ good luck!

it truly is a familiar video card, no longer really that tremendous with assistance from todays criteria, it truly is about 2 generations previous merely about 3 and runs off of an agp slot whihc leaves you little or no upgrading ideas. yet besides all that certain, it is your video card and it is going to play video clips and some older video games like 1/2 existence 2 and the such. because the recomended video card is an Hd 9870 i ought to say yo should be not ordinary pressed to play the game at a reaosnable high quality. you could continuously try, somewhat tinkering and who's conscious of, you're waiting to play it authentic nicely consisting of your gpu. good success
