Well obviously you are gonna need a degree. Training is ok, but employers want you to possess a degree. I got started by taking a few classes that were just generalized college courses. When i started i was unsure about what path i wanted to take in the computer field. After 2 semesters i knew, I have a degree in Network Administration and Support. I'd look into a community college and from there you can decide how far you want to go with it.

First step is to find something you really enjoy doing. If you LIKE sitting in front of a computer 8 hours a day doing web design then you will do well. If you discover you hate it then no amount of training will make it a career you will stick with.

So make sure you really like web design, or programming, or whatever computer related field you choose.

Home learning courses are always good to start off with.
You could research it.
Go to your local library or careers adviser.
Oh and Photoshop has to be one of the best graphics programmes around so i reccomend buying that, not just for your career but for personal use.
