Standard double sided tape at a stationers includes Sellotape 15mm wide by 5 metres if you don't need much. It has a fingerlift edge to remove the backing easily. Sellotape and Scotch do 33 metre rolls in 12mm, 25mm and 50mm these are quite expensive.
Craft shops may have a wider choice. There are fingerlift rolls in 6mm and 12mm wide- Styx2 is one brand. You can also get extremely narrow 3mm double sided tape Styx2, Woodware & others.
There are also rollers which put down a line of adhesive. This is faster but you don't get as much for your money. Pritt is common. The Styx2 rollers come in permanent or repositionable and are particularly good for the semi transparent vellum papers as they don't show through. Xyron do some extra wide rollers.

The best double sided tape I've used is just plain carpet tape available from any building supply store (Lowes, Home Depot) if thickness is not a concern. Also window insulation film tape works fine. Using either of these get you more bang for your buck.

Hey, i'm an avid crafter and have found that recently Asda and Tesco have started supplying craft ranges which fortunately include double sided sticky tape. It's better spending the extra pennies on a make like scotch, they have extra sticking power and are acid and lignin free so will not damage photos.

I have seen it in Asda in the UK so I am sure Walmart must have it. It is often called "Toupee Tape" since it's original use was to hold wigs in place. You might have more luck buying it online if you search for toupee tape instead of double sided tape. Good luck and enjoy the prom!

Anywhere that sells regular tape. I've even seen it at the dollar store. It is sold in rolls just like regular tape. The scotch brand has a purple label.

Many office supply stores carry it. Check your local Offie Depot or Staples.
