I'm applying to several schools for Graduate Studies in Religion. About how long does it take to make a decision? I submitted all the information on time, and most of the deadlines were in early December/January. I'm just wondering how much longer I have to wait. I hate waiting. lol.

I'm waiting on UVA, USC (carolina), FSU, Duke, UNC.

First, I am wondering why you did not apply to my program. ;)

Second, and actually in answer to your question, all programs in our field pretty much abide by the Council on Graduate Education guidelines, which suggest that all notifications be sent by April 15.

However, most programs in religion contact their top choice students well ahead of that deadline, hoping to get those students to seriously consider their programs.

Don't expect anything in February (we are still meeting and evaluating applicants), but you should begin to hear in mid-March.

Best wishes to you!

Probably a good 2-4 months if they have to sift through hundreds of applications. Remember that no news is good news. But if you're REALLY anxious send them an email.
