If I am an American Teacher hoping to find a teaching position in the UK, would TES be a sufficient way of searching for a position? Or, would going through a recruitment agency be the best way of securing a job due to the need for a work permit?

The teachers over here are pretty dumb. You don't have to be a genius to find work in this field.

Yes, be very careful. Find out first about your work permit, otherwise it could be a bit of trouble.

Either is OK - they will probably try to fob you off with "unqualified" status because you don't have a uk qualification. Keep on at them to give you a good salary.

but you can do a one year conversion course

Please don't come!!

Schools in the UK are in absolute crisis. Kids are completely out of control and if you try and tell them off their parents will assault you.

For god sake go to Australia. Thats where all our teachers are going!
