how many ultrasounds did you have during pregnancy and at which weeks? is there a huge difference between the 2d and 3d?

This will vary widely from woman to woman.
My OB always gave me a viability scan as soon as I knew I was pregnant (6-7 weeks) again at 10-12 weeks, again at 16-18 weeks- a full anatomy scan at 20 weeks. Then 2-3 more between 20 weeks and birth.
This will very greatly on several things. If your doctor does not have an ultrasound machine in office, they will have to send you off someplace to get one done. Because of this, you may not have as many.
Some insurance companies will only cover 2 unless there is a good enough reason for another.
Some doctors feel that if the pregnancy is "normal" meaning nothing comes up- then 2 is fine.
If you have any problems in pregnancy or if your doctor likes to use the ultrasound machine to check your baby's progress, you may recieve many more then others may report.
I am 16 weeks with twins and I have had 4 since December 7th and another scheduled tomorrow! (Yay!)

There is a huge huge difference between 2d/3d ultrasounds. Google "Ultrasound Images" and check the differences for yourself :-) You'd be amazed at the difference.

1st 6 weeks
2nd 16 weeks
3rd 20 weeks
4th 28 weeks
5th 38 weeks
6th 40 weeks
it is not normal to have that many ultrasounds, but they were trying to keep a check on the position and weight of the baby and one of them was 3d. usually they do 2.
yes, there is a huge difference between 2d and 3d. i highly recommend it. you can tell so much more about what the baby will look like. it is so beautiful. we got pictures we could print from a cd and a movie for $160. which is also not a bad price.

Had ultrasounds at 9 wks, 19 wks, 28 wks and 40 wks.

We had a 3D ultrasound at 28 weeks that we paid for ourselves and it was really cool. There is defintely a difference with what you see. With the 3d ultrasound, you can see the features of the baby much more clearly than in the 2D. My Dr's office didn't do the 3D u/s, so I paid to have one done for "entertainment". If you can afford to do it (costs around $200), it is so worth it.

Hope this helps!

i've only had 2. im now 32 weeks pregnant. the first one i was 13 weeks, and the second one i was 22 weeks. there is a verrry big difference between 2D and 3D though. with the 2D you kind of have to guess what everything is (like eyes, arm, feet, ect.) but with the 3D you can see everything very clearly. my first ultrasound was 2D and all you can see is the outline of the baby. its still amazing. but my second one was 3D and to see her face and being able to see every feature on her face was truley amazing. good luck with everything!!

I believe you have one around 10-12 weeks to check brain and heart structures and then another one around 20 weeks to determine sex if you want and to make sure baby is ok and all systems are functioning

Their is a HUGE different between 2D and the 4D. Some people use 3D

2D you cannot really tell alot of detail. Its grainy and a black and white kind of color. Its still cool but you cannot tell too much. You cannot see much of facial details if any

3D and 4D you can see facial expressions, hair, facial movement, muscle definition and hands and toes with very strong detail. I heard they are pretty cool but they cost alot

I had about 6 through the course of the pregnancy and I dont' remember what weeks they were at.

But YES there is a huge difference between 2D and 3D

2D looks like a black and white negetive of a picture.

3D looks like a photograph. (Like an actual picture, it's kinda freaky)

well this is my third pregnancy, with my first i had 2 one at 15 weeks and one at 28 weeks, the second i had 5 because they thought baby was small... one at 14 weeks one at 20 weeks(i paid for to determine sex) one at 28 weeks, one at 32 weeks and one at 36 weeks, the third i have had two so far one at 16 weeks and one at 20 weeks due to not feeling baby move for 4 days and then dr not being able to find heartbeat on doppler but everything is ok and i am scheduled at 28 weeks to get another one because i have a low lying placenta

Here in my province in Canada, we only get one. That's at around 18-20 weeks. If something is wrong, then you may get more, but for the most part it is only one.
