A few people asked if the pc fan was even running...
Well the problem is that when I plug it in and turn the power strip on it immediately flashes and nothing else happens. I've even held in the button!

Sounds like a dead power supply. If you are not comfortable messing around with the inside of your computer I suggest taking it to a reputable shop.
If you are comfortable with doing it yourself buy a decent power supply one...300W or more (never such a thing as too much lol) from a local computer shop. You can also get them from Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, and maybe WalMart. A good brand is Antec. Follow the instructions on hooking it up and switch on the computer. The computer case does not have to be closed up for this. If the computer runs properly...you're good to go. If not you could be faced with a dead motherboard. I've never replaced one but it pretty much = build your own or buy new computer.

Held in What button ?
Does the computer work at all ?
