Ice it. I don't think you're screwed for life.

I don't think your screwed for life. But you may be in pain for a while. And if you pulled any tendons or liaments, then you will be at a higher risk for future injuries. But that doesn't mean live your life in a bubble. Get up, dust yourself off, and try again! Ok, treatment. You need to use the acronym R.I.C.E. That stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Try to stay off that knee. Keep ice on it when you can. Use an ace wrap around your knee for support until everything has a chance to heal. Be sure not to wrap it too tight though. If your toes are numb, you may want to loosen the wrap. If it is still swollen, try to keep it elevated. Ideally above the heart. And take motrin. This will help with the swelling an the pain. Take 3x 200mg tablets every 4-6 hours. Alternate between Tylenol and Motrin every other day to avoid any harmful side effects of either medication. I hope this helps, and keep Skiing!!!

I have had a knee injury for about 20 years, and to be honest, it was never the same. I did not really have the proper medical attention for it, so that may be my own fault. You need to find a good orthopedic doctor who is trained to treat this kind of injury, or it may bother for the rest of your life.

GO in for a quick exam. It'll heal fine, but you may be prone to re-injure your kee if you continue your activities. After you get it examed, lay low from your activities for about a week or what your doc says.

Ice it, and try not to walk on it too much. I did the same thing when I was skiing moguls, and it was better after about two days.
