I agree with nona. If there's an adult listed on the account, you can have an account.

You can open a savings account, some of the functionality of the account may be limited but many banks offer a scheme to help younger savers from the age of around 6 upwards.

Absolutely... you can have a savings account, checking account, loan-(with the signing of a adult as well), even IRA's or CD's.

If your bank questions you and is not working with you on opening any of these. change banks immediately and go where the customer is treated correctly !!
