I just bought a printer, and I'm kind of upset. I got a Canon MP160. I installed it and everything, and I noticed there is NO cords to connect the printer to the computer. It needs a USB I'm guessing. Do they expect me to have a USB-USB hanging around my house? Or maybe it comes with it, and mine just didn't feel like it. Any tips?

LOL, yeah, printers dont come with chords, ever. You will have to buy a USB cable on your own. You can ususally get like an all in one back, comes with ink, paper, and other accesories.

Hi, I saw your question about your USB Cable missing from your printer. This is a common occurance when buying a new printer. Most new printers don't include USB cables. Your sales person should have explained this to you. As a former Geek that worked at a Staples store, this is what I got chewed-out for most of the time from customers. But, as I would explain to the customers, this is a manufacturing decision, not a retail store decision. All a retail store can do is not order anymore of those printers. Since all printer manufacturers now do this, a retail store must except it if they want to sell printers. Also, if your new printer came with ink cartridges, they won't be full cartridges. They will go empty sooner than new cartridges.

I did some research and found that this device does not come with a USB printer cable.

The box includes:

Pixma MP160 photo all-in-one, power cord, cartridges (PG-40 black, CL-41 color), easy setup instructions, document kit (setup software and user's guide CD-ROM, registration card, and cross sell sheet).

If you bought this at a store, I would complain that the person who assisted you did not bother to tell you that the USB cable was not included.

You can purchase the USB printer cable separately at most computer or electronics stores either online or on-site.

The type of cable you are looking for is a USB 2.0 Ab (or USBa 2.0 to USBb 2.0) High Speed cable.

All new printers now do not come with the usb printer cord. YOu have to purchase that separate but the great thing is they are available pretty much anywhere. You need to look for a usb PRINTER cord.

Printers do not come with the cords. This is due the the fact the computers had different sized parallel cable connections.

You need to buy your own USB-USB because I have the same printer and it didn't come with one.

ALL Printers should have their own cable for you to hook it up...you need to contact Canon or the store you purchased it at...to get the right cable for it and/or replace the printer for one that has a cable....

Read the book and see if a cord should be included, if so, call the company and tell them that you didn't get one. Otherwise, go to an office supply store or look on e-bay for one that is compatible with your printer model.
