My little girl just started on simple table foods such as zwieback toast and biter biscuits and now she won't take jarred baby food anymore, she spits it out. I can't get her to eat anymore unless it's something she can feed herself, which isn't much. Is this just a phase? I'm concerned that she's not going to be getting much to eat that way.

I know I'm not experienced with this, but according to Evelyn's doctor, she's getting all the nutrition she needs from her formula right now. I wouldn't worry about it and just keep offering it to her.

Hey! Dont worry, your daughter most likely just realized she is independent with the zwieback toast and such and is enjoying that too much. You can give her macoroni noodles, spaghetti noodles, little pieces of bread, scrambled eggs, baked potatoes, peas, little pieces of green beans ( make sure all of these are cut up and soft and little enough she can eat them safely of course). Gerber graduates is great, but can be expensive. Basically feed her finger foods, that are soft and little and things she can try to pick up with her fingers. She'll be fine, she just is very independant :)

Definitely sounds like a phase of independence. I wouldn't worry about this too much or put too much pressure on her to eat right now. If she just started eating I'm assuming she's around 6 months or younger and at this age 'food' is just a taste to get them ready for what is to come. Her main source of nutrition should be coming from breastmilk and/or formula. If she is drinking her normal amount I wouldn't worry about the 'food' for right now.
After a few days break she may allow you to feed her again and may not. If she doesn't let her play with the spoon and see what she does....babies are never to young to give them a baby spoon to play with!

Hee Hee, welcome to the world of picky toddlers. Just as soon as they figure out they can eat for themselves, say goodbye to baby food. I am making the assumption that she is older than 12 months. You can feed her chicken cut into small pieces. Cut potatoes into small chunks and boil until soft. Scrambled eggs - she must be over 1 year to eat egg whites due to food allergies. Peel, dice and boil other fruits and veggies until soft. Good ones to start with are apples, pears, peaches, zuchinni, squash etc. Just introduce 1 thing at a time for 3 days, early in the day to make sure she is not allergic.
Besides that, get a shower curtain and put it under the high chair and watch out for flying food!

She's testing her independence and is discovering that she likes to do things herself. You can mix some rice with her baby food to get it to a not quite so messy consistancy and let her try and use a spoon or just her hands. Cut up fruit and soft cooked veggies into really small bits smaller than the end of your pinky finger and let her try that.
If all else fails, funny faces and the airplane spoon work wonders.

If she likes feeding herself then by all means let her.
Try the toddler finger foods they make like the pasta. Anything soft like cooked peas or carrots. Fruits such as bananas or peaches are good too.

How about giving her the gerber foods that she can feed herself. They have apples pears peaches carrots green beans all of that and if she can't eat the biscuits with no problem this will be great for her!. Good Luck

Once they taste food with salt, it's hard to get them to eat baby food, which has no salt. The salt brings out the flavor and she likes it. Try mashing up the food that you cook and letting her have that.

its not uncommon for a baby to be wishy washy about foods. Some weeks some foods they cant live without, the next they will spit out at you.
