Let the number be x

5x - 6 = 3x + 4
2x = 10
x = 5

The number is 5

Subtracting 6 from 5 times the number = 25 - 6 = 19
Adding 4 to three times the number = 15 + 4 = 19

5x - 6 = 3x + 4

Therefore bring 3x over to the other side and subtract from 5x = 2x.The bring -6 over to the other side so, 6 + 4 = 10.

now we have 2x= 10 divide 2x by 2 and 10 by 2 = 5.

Therefore X=5 : So now to check: 5 x 5 - 6 = 19
3 x 5 + 4 = 19
Yay! it works..

So, set up the equation:
5X-6=3X-4
Subtract 3X from both sides:
2X-6=-4
Add six to both sides:
2x=2
Therefore, X=1
