PS3 if you want blu ray disk
Xbox 360 if you want better interface as you will be able to play against PC users with this if they have Vista.

If you want to talk about now, the 360 is definitely better because it's been out for over a year, so it has more games than the PS3. XBL is also a lot better than what Sony has to offer. XBL has been around for about 5 years now, so it's got plenty of time to work out the kinks.
If you want to talk about the future, then the PS3 will definitely be better. The PS3 is built for the future. Blu-ray is the next evolution of storage media. Just as DVD replaced CD, and CD replaced cartridges, Blu-ray will replace DVD. Another advantage that the PS3 has over the 360 is the success of the PSX and PS2, the only 2 consoles to have sold over 100 million. That's why so many movie companies are backing Blu-ray: it's because of the success of the PSX and PS2, and they're hoping that those successes will transfer over to the PS3. The PS3 also has more Japanese support than the 360, and that's going to be crucial when it comes to getting developers to make games for a console. Without the Japanese support, Japanese game makers aren't going to make games for the 360, so that could potentially lead to a lot of PS3 exclusives.
People need to stop complaining about the price of the PS3. You get what you pay for. It's that simple. Both Sony and MS are losing about the same amount of money with each console sold, so it's not like Sony is overcharing.

I have the Wii/ Xbox 360/ PS3 and it generally depends on ur mood or lifestyle. Xbox 360 pwns when it comes to shooters, sports, racing but the PS3 handles the RPG style games much better. And the Wii is its own category cuz its sooo much fuunnn!!!! Overall performance wise, its comes down to 1) Xbox 360 2)Nintendo Wii 3) PS3. Xbox in my opinion is the best, cuz it has better games (vs PS3) better media and software (vs PS3/Wii) and better online features and services(vs PS3/Wii). The Wii is a very age-friendly system(vs Xbox 360/PS3) and it gives the player a more immediate gratification (vs Xbox 360/PS3). The PS3 plays blu-ray DVDs(vs Wii/Xbox 360?). But the PS3 is highly overrated and doesnt live up to the hype and the cost. It is also poorly manufactured in some cases. Looks good, but thats about it. Also the free online service is free for a reason, IT SUCKS!!! its really lame and offers the worst features. The Wii is really fun and is very good value. Its tons of late nights swingin ur arm around and leveling 200 enemies. The only defect is that it can get boring if u play by urself and the online service isnt the best. The Xbox 360 however, is personally my favorite because it has a large line up of superior games, the best online service no doubt, and the best media and software capabilties. Very good system for the value. So to sum this all up, buy the Xbox 360 if u want superior games and online fun (By The Way--- GEARS OF WAR!!!!!) its worth the price, buy the Nintendo Wii if ur interested in a whole new gamer experience at the cost of good graphics and online fun, super good value. Please don't buy the PS3, if u do thats ok, ur choice, but im warning u that u may regret it.
The Xbox 360 overheating problems were results of poor user handling, if u read the warning it tells u how to take care of one. I got mine the first day (11/22/05) and it hasnt overheated yet (recommend u buy the Nyko Intercooling Fan, if u plan on playing Oblivion, Gears of War, GRAW2 and most advanced games just in case). The PS3 i also got the first day and it has given me a few problems and sony doesnt want to do anything about it. My Wii is just chillin!!!)
Microsoft has better customer support, then Nintendo, and lastly Sony

for the best your money has to offer, go with the PLAYSTATION 3
wanna play online - 50 a yrs with xbox online, free with ps online
want true High Def, PS3 has blu-Ray built in, xbox makes you buy a seperate add on unit, a HD-dvd player
want a controll that feels firmiliar go with the PS3, a design that has worked now for 12 years
if you want a machine that wont over heat get the PS3. if you like the idea of machine that could overheat to the point of complete failure ya get a 360
you may pay more but i think its best to pay a little more for the best. besides of all the extras that 360 has to offer, the nickel and dime you on everythin. with the PS3 no extras

I bought the 360 after 2 days it started to over heat so I took it back and bought a ps3 it works great and u get a wireless controller and blueray for movies

I would say the 360 just because it is not as high priced as the PS3 is. That and my husband has the 360 and the graphics are awesome.
