I have around 100 audio tapes that I don't listen to just because I don't have a cassette player in my car. I just want to convert them to CDs so I can listen to them on my CD player or mp3 player. Is there a way to convert them ito CDs?

Put simply, you will need to connect your cassette player to your PC soundcard, then play the cassette whilst recording on your PC. A step-by-step guide is available at:

The recording software is the key, there are some free software downloads available at:

I have used ‘Magix Audio Cleaning Lab’ and ‘Audacity’ – Audacity is particularly popular since it is free!
If you record to WAV format, expect file sizes of around 10MB per minute, or 1MB per minute for MP3 (at 128kbps).
Once you have your digital versions of the recording on your PC, simply burn them on to a CD (Nero burning software or similar..). If you use Magix Audio Cleaning, the software will burn an audio CD for you without needing additional software (assuming you have a CD writing drive of course!)
You can also download a free PDF version of the step-by–step guide from the download page mentioned above, the guide is complete with diagrams and screen-shots.

Hope this helps

yes. you need to get a few things first.

first you need a take deck to play the tapes second you need a cord to connect to the computer and third you need software. all you can get for free (expect the tape deck and the cord) software is out there ALL OVER THE NET for free i use many pro set ups but for you i'd use cakewalk-its fast and easy to use. basically you need a SEQUENCING SOFTWARE.

what you do is this. connect the tape deck (depends on your outputs) to the computer. connect it via the head phone jack into your mic line in on the computer-using a cord with HEAD PHONE pins at BOTH ENDS-these are found at ANY electronics store and even some walgreens and walmarts (then set up the software) hit play and hit record on the software. that's the simplest way. other ways would give you better results but being as you are asking this question-i'm going to assume you don't have a mixer or a dedicated audio interface. if you had either of these you could play with the eq and stuff like that to clean up the sound a bit.

if you need any more help let me know

10 points pleaaaaaaaaaaase!

by the way i am an music producer and audio designer.

You need a cassette player with an output and a CD recorder with a compatible input.
