You should be proud of being shy, there are too many loud mouth jerks in this world. Shy people are the greatest.

Star--someone must've told you that being shy is a bad thing.

If this is the case, which I very well think that it is, show them up by doing something that you know would blow this person away.

Otherwise, don't worry about it.

My husband is shy, but that was due to 21 years of the military and 18 years of his ex-wife.

Now, he's talking more than he ever did when we met.

Good luck...

Hi...it is not a bad thing. I was voted shyest in my class in high school. Funny thing is, I am anything but shy nowadays. You will grow out of it as you come in to your own. . (By that you mature, your interests lead you to different social circles etc). My son was even a very shy kid. He is now your age and he is coming out of it. He is just starting. But I can tell. Just give yourself a little more time. And for what its worth, I am 43 and I am still shy around my dad!!!
Smile :)

No, I am 30 and very shy. You sound like me a bit. I just have trouble speaking to people. I guess I think I will not have anything to say. I am just awkward around people. Just do not let people force to do something that you are not ready to do.

No, it is not wrong. Accept the way that you are. SOme people are outgoing and some people are shy. If that is the way you are, there is nothing wrong with it, accept it and be happy. Don't try to change for the sake of making others happy.

there is nothing wrong with being shy !! but you do want to be able to communicate with others

so gradually work on being more open - join clubs where you can talk to and improve your skills

communication and overcoming your shyness is something you can learn by practice

I'm 31 (still cant believe it) and I used to soo shy like you, trust me, you'll grow out of it, especially when you have to stick up for yourself... just try and smile more and make eye contact. then before you know it, you'll be very outgoing

You sound young. As you get older you will have more experience and more confidence and you won't be as shy. Just keep telling yourself that you are just as good as anyone else, and you will see that you are!!!

It can be later on. You really should overcome your shyness, because later on in life it will hurt you. Seriously, I knew two people who were just too shy, and people just took advantage of them left and right.
