When you drive 30 miles to save 5 cents per tank of gas on your next fillup ?

No, you are poor when you can't eat a meal or feed your kids at all or pay your rent or afford to go to the doctor when very sick. Or, when you and your kids are living out of your car. If you are going to any sales racks at 'every store' then you aren't poor because you are still shopping. Either that you have enormous debt. BTW, 'when you look at other people's trash for good stuff' goes on all the time by everyone. We called it 'dumpster diving' when i was in college. Everyone likes to do this.

Sounds like you're a college student, or really frugal. I know wealthy people that will see something in someone's trash and take it. They always shop on the sale racks and always have the patience to wait until something they like goes on sale. I still eat Ramen noodles, there's nothing wrong with it. If the waiter sux I won't tip at all. One way to make yourself poor is to keep eating fast food. Wasting $2 - $4 to save .75 is not smart anyway. Wealthy people didn't get that way by being foolish with their money, sorry the nouveau riche give the wealthy a bad image.

Poor people wouldn't be eating at a resteraunt in the first place let alone tipping a waiter.
You don't have to be poor to garbage pick either. I know many people that do it just for the fun of it and not cause they are poor. Same with sales racks.....most people poor or not like to get a good deal.
The ramen noodles one I could see poor people doing and the change for taco bell.....
A lot of poor people don't even have a car so they have no need for gas.

That just sounds like being resourceful. Poor is when you have no home, you don't have furniture to look for change for Taco Bell, when you don't have a car to drive to get gas, when you look through the trash for good stuff like food. When you don't even have Ramen noodles to eat. :-(

Sorry but most of those wouldnt relate to "poor people" I like sales racks and I eat Ramen noodles because I like them. My dad lost job years ago (He got another one and we're a middle class family now) for a year. there are 9 people in my family. I knew we were poor when my mother came to me to borrow money to buy groceries. I was 10.

When you eat once a day so your children can eat twice
When you have small bits of meat once a week as a special treat
When you go through other people's trash for food, not for "good stuff"
When you walk because you can't afford the bus
When your children don't get anything for Christmas except a pair of used socks
When you don't have anything worth selling to raise money
Based on your list - you ain't poor, you ain't even close to poor.

When you reuse your plastic containers from cool whip etc to be used as tupperware.
When at Christmas time you use a pocket knife to cut the tape on the packages so you can reuse the paper next year.
When you're staying at a hotel and you wait till the maid leaves her cart in the hallway so you can swipe the shampoo, soap, toilet paper, and God forbid lightbulbs out of the lamps.
When you go to the dump and come back with more stuff then you brought.
Man, this sounds like my ex.

poor is when you have little value of anything sentimental. Poor is when you have to beg to get by. Poor is when you live in a country with no running water or shelter. Poor is when you have no food to eat that youll eat anything that is edible. anyone that is living off of minimum wage is poor. Also you can be poor if you have bad health because that can cause you to be poor by not getting a good job.

I can relate to at least one of those scenerios, I think many people can, i dont think it makes us poor, i just think its habit and sometimes situations get tight.
