Does anyone know have first hand knowledge of what happened to the tons of $$ raised by the celbrity telethons? Did it all go to families rather than some helping these people who can hardly walk up a flight of stairs much less work anymore?

Sorry, but I'm not talking about government funding. The pres. has set aside millions to help these people actually, per the codumentary. Just as the gov. organizations sent debit cards to Katrina victims. No comparison here, sorry!

Below is a link for you - Doling Out the Dough - Americans have opened up their wallets and donated $1.4 billion to the victims’ families of September 11. Here’s a look at how the money is—and isn’t—being spent:

Your question raises another issue.....
What is the alternative during a disaster? Who should we send to the rescue and clean up?
At the next disaster how many people will think of themselves and not answer the call ?

What about all the volunteers and national guard troops that waded through gallons of sewage and waste water after Katrina and Rita ? Has anyone checked on them for health conditions? You can not isolate yourself to one story - look at the big picture and ask yourself - what if it were me? Would anyone be there to rescue you?

I do NOT know.

We need to do all we can to help these people.

I was in lower Manhattan a month after 9/11. From a half mile away, the smell was indescribable - like sticking your head in a bucket of burning Ajax cleanser! It must have still been smoldering.

I have no doubt that many, many people were very damaged by the aftereffects. I would not be surprised by a slight uptick in respiratory problems even miles away.

The contents of a modern day office building are simply not designed to be burned, pulverized and then inhaled.

It seems like all health matters have little meaning to our
president. He sends our guys to war, doesn't realize they'll
return home wounded or broke, Katrina victims are still
homeless & the people who helped clean up 9/11 are being
ignored.
Disgraceful.
