Also, while I am driving, the RPM's will go up for about a second and then go back to normal. When this happens, the temp. coolant gauge on the odometer will rise and fall. Is this electrical? I have never had this happen to me, any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This sounds like a faulty sensor.

when I was younger and had testosterone coming out of my ears I would fool around with the sensors of the car to try to squeeze every possible ounce of horsepower out of them.

If you purchased the car new take it back to the dealer and ask. I have a hunch about that.

On some cars, when a high-current electrical device turns on (fan, driving lights, etc.) the engine will rev uup momentarily so it can produce enough current to the device. Check with your dealer to see if this is the case.

does your auto have an electric fan? if it is equipped with a electric fan that is what you are hearing. if you have a tack, and it is moving when this is happening you need a new serge control moduel best to have a shop replace it real soon, or you mite end up with a run away motor and you will not be able to control your car .
