I live in northern Vermont, where it is obviously cold. When the dryer is not in use and you open the door you can feel cold air really coming in through the vents in the back. I checked outside and the vent there is closed like it should be when the dryer is off.

If you are running an electric dryer you can get a kit to vent the dryer inside and save the heat and put insulation into the vent cap. You put water in a little tank the the dryer vents into. The water traps the lint to keep it from getting all over. Another kit you can get goes in the vent line and has a door that seals off the line going out and sends the air back into the room through a little lint filter. In summer flip the door the other way and the air goes outside. If you have a gas dryer...........never mind. Gas will put CO in the house and you could wake up dead. < <

I live in MN and it happens here every winter. There is really nothing you can do about it besides making sure the dryer door is always shut tightly so no cold air comes into your house.
