Why do really fat people smell?

is it cos they are so obese they cant reach to wash everywhere or does personal hygiene become a thing of the past cos they have spent all their money on food

this is a serious question. i walked past a really obese lady today and she stunk, i thought this aint the first time i've noticed this, maybe theres a reason.

First, it is not all really fat people. You run across quite a few who do not smell at all but do not notice. The smell you are talking about is exceedingly distinctive and that is why you recognize it and notice them.

It is due to a chemical imbalance in their bodies that is not in any way caused by weight. It causes excretion of a foul smelling chemical in their sweat, over which they have no control whatever. There is no cure, no medicine to limit it. It strikes people of all weights, but the imbalance also has other effects, one of which causes one to gain weight as life progresses, more so than other people do as they age from childhood. So you usually find people with the imbalance to be at least mildly obese. But not always. In the older days of the army, post-WWII and through the 70's, these people were often ridiculed as being filthy pigs ruining life for those around them and given "blanket parties" and forced showers with harsh lye soaps. All to utterly no point as it only helps for a short while to shower. An hour later, it's like nothing was done at all.

That's why you associate the smell with people who are obese. Usually they just give in. It's like changing baby diapers. Horrible beyond belief for the first few months, but after a year or two, some people actually forget to wash their hands afterwards. They do what they can because they smell it too, but there's not much. The obesity increases inexorably. The worse the imbalance, the greater the smell... and the obesity. They go hand in hand.

If interested, observe really obese people more carefully. There are PLENTY about. You will find that very few have this problem. Remember back, to school perhaps, over the years and think about non-hugely-obese people you've known who always seemed to have poor hygiene (smell, not grime!) and consider if they were all hugely obese.

most likely because they cannot reach all areas completely. The other thing is that think about an area being covered all the time by a bandaid, when you eventually take it off it smells kind of bad. The same thing goes for obese people, the area in between their rolls doesn't get a chance to spread apart and get air in there, so it stinks more... Especially if they walk around a lot or a little active!

There was a really fat person who had an infection so they checked some of the fat folds on the person and it turned out they had a ham sandwich that had fallen down in the crease and it had gone bad.

probably a few reasons.

For one thing, how you eat actually affects how you smell (thats why indian people tend to smell so bad when they sweat), because the waste actually comes out with your sweat (gross I know). And very fat people obviously eat bad unless of course they have some other real medical reason for being so large. Also its more difficult for them to get around, so they do sweat more than us.

Many are also extremely LAZY too, so most of them probably dont have too great of personal hygeine. It takes longer for them to shower and youre right, it is hard for them to reach places.

Its gross. I have a hard time respecting many obese people who dont do anything about it, or think that the world owes them special treatment because theyre fat. I do understand that very FEW of them have medical reasons for being overweight, but it is EXTREMELY RARE for a medical reason to cause you to actually be obese; plus, everyone's got a sob story and a weight problem is just something they need to deal with.

Its not just the personal hygeine it can be because the sweat more during easy tasks or alot more during harder tasks as well they may not wash everywhere or the food the eat may have lots of seasonings some people eat heavy seasoning on their food and it emits thru their pores like italians that eat garlic in large amounts smell garlicy

I believe that you are just being critical of a certain group of people. Body odor is caused by bacteria, not necessarily perspiration. Anaerobic bacteria flourish when the body doesn't recieve enough oxygen, and can cause body odor. Toxins also play a part in 'B.O.' Toxins surround our lives and accumulate in our bodies, causing some unpleasant odors. There may seem to be a tendency for body odor in overweight or obese people, but thin people can be fairly 'stanky' as well due to dietary imbalances and inabilities to digest certain foods well. It is also caused by emotional stress, possibly because people like you are constantly railing on them.

i think its because they sweat more than skinny people. And some skinny people smell too....its all about personal hygeine and just because someone is over weight doesnt mean they dont have any

According to the tv show "Bones," its because of mold. It grows in the fat creases of morbidly obese people.

ewwwwwww i know lol theres this kid @ my school who is like that its gross i thinik its bc in between the rolls of fat sweat the need to make deoderant for under ppl's fat rolls!!! my god ppl need help! seriously
