Does it just not work as well for some women? Does it have something to do with how accurately they take it? Or is it just the way it is?

All yes. My best friend got pregnant on the pill. One of my friend's moms said she was on the pill all 3 times she got pregnant. Another woman I used to work with got pregnant on the pill a couple of times. It does just work better for some women than others and it does depend somewhat on how well you follow directions in taking it. Keep in mind, it is not even 100% effective when taken correctly (it's 99.9 percent effective when taken correctly, or something like that).

Yes I did, three times. First time I was told I was using too small a doses of the pill, the stronger ones I was having issues with. The second time, I got pneumonia, and had been on antibiotics, I was told that the pill is less effective, and that is why it happened. The third time, there was nothing said to why it happened, I have never used a pill since.

I dont know if it works better for some than others; but i was always told that consistency is key. My Gyno told me to take it at the same time every day and if i missed it to take it as soon as possible.

yup, i can give you a lady. My cousin never intended on having kids, then one day she finds she pregnant. She had been on the pill and never missed it. Well, she had Cole and that was it. Then cole was 6 months old and the pill failed her again. Now she also has Kade. SOOO, her and her hubby have 2 little boys, but she was on the pill.

I know a few women that did.

Some forget to take it at the same time every day, or missed days. A few were overweight which affects the pill hormones, since you're heavier there isn't enough hormone to stop ovulation.
One woman just got pregnant, it just didn't work for her even though she did everything right.

I fell pregnant with my 4th child whilst taking the mini pill, I took it religiously every morning.
The only reason I think it happened to me at that time was that I had just stopped breastfeeding baby #3, (who was 6 months old at the time) any contraceptive effect that was giving me immediately stopped and I fell pregnant.
I have taken the combined pill since and been fine.
My theory is that somebody, somewhere has a plan for you, we are not always in control!!!!!

I have 4 kids. I got pregnant twice while on the pill. The other two were planned. But I think it might have been that I was late in the day taking it. Or the other meds I was taking.

In late 2005, I met a woman who was trying to concieve at the same time as myself. Coincidentally we both got pregnant, both due in June of 2006, and both delivered in May 2006.
In December 2006, I learned I was carrying twins. She just emailed me four days ago that she is ALSO expecting twins (hers fraternal) as well. The only difference this time? SHE WAS TAKING BIRTH CONTROL.

I personally just think that there are some women that it effects differently then others. Obviously it didn't quit work for her this time, (and she is having fraternal twins, meaning that TWO eggs were released and fertilized)

I do not know anyone at all that was on birth control and got pregnant on it. My cousin did though get pregnant because she would forget to take her pills everyday. She would never double up like your suppost to or use a back up method, she would just continue to take her pills and i believe that is why she miscarried.

If you take them correctly then they will work.
