If you have experience in a certain area and a good idea, stand up for yourself and don't let others dismiss you too quickly.

I learned that it's best to assign tasks at the beginning of the project, but be willing to change who does what after a couple of meetings. One group I worked with had a member who was always present. One change I would have made with that groups is to assign the mostly absent person to just introduce and close our presentation, and for the other three of us to cover the material he was supposed to talk about.

Yes, I have worked in teams.
I learnt: to listen to other people without interruption; to respect the views of other members; to control personal emotions from going out of hand; to be punctual for appointments; to put forward my views in clear terms and explain any doubts raised by others; to accept changes in drafts prepared by me; to manage time in such a way that my allotted job is completed in time.
Make changes: this is achieved by free and frank discussion. One needs to go by the views of the group as a whole even if it meant dissent from my side (I have dissented often and recorded it too, if I felt strongly about it). Inter-personal skills play a great part in persuading others to come to an agreed approach to the task on hand. A spirit of give and take makes it easier to accept changes gracefully.
Yes, sometimes, I did feel that left to myself, I would have done certain things differently. However, I found, on hind sight, that in some cases, the wiser counsel of other members was right, proving my approach to be wrong. There have also been cases where other members of the team who initially differed with me, turned round and congratulated me for being firm in my views that later proved right.

I do not get along with others. I always argue until I get my way. This is why I am successful in the mortgage business.
