I have physics homework in for tommorrow and I really need anyone's wild guesses to point me in the right direction to answering this question! I know it is a really hard question and totally pointless (don't ask me why me pysics teacher wanted me to do this).
I just need some tips on how: what the serving in a white cup and saucer and the froth is important for keeping the drink hot. And if it helps, the topic I'm doing is heat transfer through infra-red radiation. Thanks!

Firstly serving in a white cup is very interesting actually I have never thought of this

White Cup
Infrared radiation is reflected in the same way as light, thus using white means more of the radiation is reflected back into the cappuccino instead of being absorbed by the cup; therefore keeping it warmer.

Porcelain Cup
Any material with low thermal conductivity can be used to reduce conductive heat transfer. Ceramics are known for low thermal conductivity. This slows the conduction of heat from the cappuccino to the porcelain and air outside.

Froth
Most insulators in common rely on the principle of trapping air (air being a good insulator) to reduce convective and conductive heat transfer. The froth on a cappuccino traps the air preventing it from conducting away heat.

Well, I don't know a damn thing about physics, but hot cappicino's stay hot just like coffee or hot chocolate. There's nothing special about what makes them hot, other then they heat it up. The froth is usually jsut the bubbles from being poored in the cup to fast, or it's whipped cream. Normally just for looks. When they put cinnamin or whatever on it, then that's for a little bit extra flavor. Otherwise, the foam is just there so people know that you're drinking a cappicino.
Cappicino's have more caffine then coffee, but less then an energy drink. It wakes you up quicker, and keeps you more alert longer then coffee. That's the point to cappicino. Flavored coffee pretty much

If a hot liquid is put into a glass container, then the glass will heat up and keep the liquid warm, longer then a plastic container. Glass can get normally hot without any damage, and it takes a long time for it to cool down. So by putting the drink into a glass mug keeps it hotter, longer.

That's about all I know. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you! Let me know how everything goes. If there's something special about a cappicino, then let me know. Because I'd like to know about it!! LOL Good luck!! It sounds like you're going to need it!!

The white porcelain cup absorbs some of the heat and and helps to keep the beverage warm and with the saucer acts as an insulator to prevent heat loss. The milk foam on top also acts as an insulator by keeping the steam and heat from escaping from the beverage.

it's insulated by the foam on the top.
btw understanding this is not pointless.
especially if you sell or drink cappuchino.
