If your batteling an anxiety disorder and depression and its gotten to the point of being so bad that its effecting your GPA in college and your ablity to get to class, and you health as well, is it wise to withdrawl and try and get yourself healthy? Also when your heading down a major that you have no deiser to be in anymore. I am 25 and I hold an assoicates degree in Liberal Arts so I have my Liberal arts done, and I not sure what to do with my life, but I am also unable to deal with anything right now as my illness has gotten so bad. I am seeing a doctor on 4/6/07 and my family is more than willing to suport me during this, even telling me not to worry about a job or college right now, to focous on getting well. I know once I am of a more sound mind I can do what ever task is ahead of me, but right now I am finding it extremly hard to deal with and take on the learning challanges I am faceing.

Health is more important than education. If you don't take care of your health, you can end up dying. The same thing cannot be applied to going to school. If I were you, I'd take it easy and set my priorities straight. Tell your professors about your situation and talk to your advisor and see what options you have. Who knows, you might even be able to take your classes online or at your house which will increase flexibility for you so you can take care of the most important things first, which in this case is your health.

Get healthy first before worrying about going to classes. You can always continue with college later on when you feel better.

I have read my student hand book from cover to cover in order to test out of classes and receive credit for classes that I have had experience in. While reading there was information regrading your current situation. Get in touch with your college therapist or counselor they do have them I am just not sure of their title. They will direct you from there. You will need to check with your college on their add drop policy's. The norm is that if you drop out you will receive an F for all the classes in your current semester,(that will hurt your GPA even further) however they do have policy's for such health issues. I am not sure how it is to be taken care of probably a medical leave of absence with your grades placed on hold and will prevent the F's. The main thing to do is contact the counselor/therapist and follow their instructions to a T. Please also be aware that some schools try to get you to leave the campus so that if you do harm yourself that they are not to be held responsible. (These are not the norm but they do exist) Try to get someone to go with you while you research your options regarding your temporally leave from school. This troubled time will all pass and will be soon be behind you but if you don't take care of your GPA you will have that on your transcript for ever. God Bless you, and hang in there your not alone many face similar situations as you.

See if you can get seen sooner before you decide to take the semester off, because perhaps with treatment, you can finish the semester once you're on medication for the anxiety and depression. Also, I don't reccomend going to college until you know what you want to do with your life--otherwise, it's a waste of time and money. Good Luck.

It sounds like you already have your mind made. Id do it at the semester though...no reason to waste a bunch of money. Unless, of course, you cant wait. You know your situation better than anyone.
