the answer to why England, Ireland Norway and all those northern European areas are so much warmer than the same latitude in Canada is

the Gulf Stream!

this huge current in the sea pumps warm water from the Caribbean up into the North Atlantic, making England et al about 11 degrees F warmer than they would be if there wasn't a Gulf Stream......there is even a small, last gasp branch of the Stream that curves around the North Cape of Norway and makes Murmansk and Archangel in Russia open to shipping even in the winter!

Now, think about how much water is moving in the Steam to make such a huge difference so many thousands of miles away.....then go look up "Gulf Stream" and be amazed.....

there is some fear that the Stream is weakening......if so, Northern Europe wont have to worry about global warming but snow cover 6 months a year !
