I beleive a good topic would be about the growing academic expectancy in elementary schools. My son is in Kindergarten, and before he started they gave me a list of things they are already expected to know, or they may be held back. His teacher even informed me that these used to be the things they would begin to learn in Kindergarten, now it's things they are expected to know.Things such as knowing how to write they're first name, knowing all shapes, colors, ABC's, and to count to at least ten, preferably 20.
Does anyone else remember not knowing these things before Kindergatren? Isn't that what they are supposed to teach in Kindergarten? Now parents are expected to teach their own kids at home, or send them to preschool(kids at age three aren't ready for school for 4-5 hours!) Homework is on the rise. My 1st grader brings home homework every night! He's only seven, when does he get a break? There have been several articles written on it, stating that the amount of children being held back from Kindergarten has doubled, and is still growing. From Kindergarten! Those poor kids! Knowledge is being pushed on them so hard that they become frustrated and they want to give up when they can't understand something. That's what I'm going through with my 4 yr old stepdaughter. She was very behind when she came to live with us and I'm afraid she'll have to wait an extra year to start school because she's only now learning to recognize her letters, when she should know how to spell and write her name, according to the schools. Some schools across America are even cutting out recess and PE entirely, when they forget that young children learn best through play. I beleive more parents need to speak up about this, before our kids turn into little robots. Sorry so long, it just really ticks me off. Anyways, I think it would be an awesome topic to address.

A GREAT topic, especially at your age, when kids should be starting to plan for their futures, would be how much to save for retirement.

Include this formula : Any number divided by 2 then drop a zero = the amount of interest to live on.

Example : $1,000,000 divide by 2 = $500,000 then drop a zero = $50,000. Can you live off $50,000 at retirement ? If yes then you will need one million saved in a retirement account to get that $50,000 in interest annually.

: )
