I have told my friend she should pass on this but she is really hyped about buying one. Does anybody know the repercussions that come with byuing a replica handbag? are there any laws that could fine a person that buys a fake bag?

First:Do they look exactly the same? That would be a good way to tell if they're the same and if you got ripped off. Second:Gucci, Dolce, Armani, none of those designer brands have their logo running over the seams of the bag, so that's a pretty good way to tell. Third:Where did you both buy it? If you bought it in a designer store, and your friend got it for way cheap at a secret back store in New York, there's a good possibility that they are both real. Depends on if you got lucky and got a real one or a fake.

It's not illegal. Many women buy knockoffs of name-brand bags and other accessories all the time. Actually, your friend is smart. With knockoffs you get almost the same look as someone else with the real thing, but you spent hundreds less. I would never spend the money to buy a real bag because the styles for them change so often, and I don't have the money to spend on a different bag of that price every few months.

Selling and making replica purses are illegal, I don't know about purchasing one, but if they do they are supporting an illegal act. By the way, the first comment here by Jen, zagahandbags.com...those are replica purses, not authentic as they claim. The best place to buy authentic designer purses is eluxury.com.

No its not illegal to own a replica bag. It is illegal to sell it trying to pass it off as the real deal!

No. That's ridiculous. Let her get it and don't worry about it. She can't get in trouble for it. Almost everyone owns a fake designer bag now. The only thing she risks is a label whore making fun of her for being cheap.

I have a fake Prada... I don't think there is anything wrong. If you go to any large scale city they do it on the streets. Guess its up to your own moral character to decide to buy a fake for 200 or a real one for 1000.

Who wants to buy fakes anyway? Did you know that most of the money of fake designer handbags goes mostly to fraud organizations and child s-e-x trade? Tell your friend that and see what she thinks..besides, there's nothing like the real designer bags.

NO! It's not illegal at all. Don't worry. It's like people selling un authorized t-shirts after a concert. Police see them but don't stop them.

If they sell it as the real thing then yes. If they buy it knowing it's a fake beforehand then no.
