You may be able to view archived copies at the British Library Newspaper Centre at Colindale (London NW9); otherwise it's a trip to Sunderland where, if you are lucky, they may hold copies somewhere there. I suggest you contact them first. Beware! Not all local papers are archived in the town where the paper circulated – our local paper has archives in another town 15 miles away!

Except for major papers, most publications don't archive their back issues electronically.
