My ipod froze please help?

I was at school and I was gonna listen to my ipod but when I got it out to listen to it my screen had froze. I cant figure out whats wrong or how to fix it. I just bought it Friday so i am confused as to why its froze.

its a 4gb ipod nano 2nd generation

You have to reset it, Hold down the menu button and the center button at the same time until it resets. This won't affect your songs!
