The colonies fought the Revolutionary War to escape unfair treatment by the monarchy of Great Britian. It seemed illogical to create a King or Queen for America after it was formed, so a democratic system of government was put in place.

America was colonized by the Brits way back when but they had that whole American Independance thing.....ever heard of Paul Revere (I hope that's the correct spelling!) They pulled away from the Empire and became their own sovereign nation. They formed their own system of government and the President is their Head of State, Commander-In-Cheif, blah blah blah.
By the way...one of the answers said it's because America is a democracy. That's got nothing to to do with it. England is a democracy, Australia is a democracy etc. Sovereignty has nothing to do with democracy...it's the whole two party free election thing that has everything to do with democracy.

Yes it has a king. The King Charles..and His mother...as queen...They are the queen and king for the other countries who don't have a king.Because only a king is recognised by God..

They tried to make George Washington king, but he said no. When the founding fathers created out government, they wanted to escape the tyranny of Englan. If they simply created another crown that was handed down through the generations of one family, we would be ruled just like England. They decided that with a rotating leader, nobody would have the chance to form a monopoly of American leadership.

You don't get out much, do you.....I see a lot of queens running around daily.
As for a real question, a better one would be, Why do other countries have Kings and/or Queens. These people have no real power, are titular heads of state in name only. We do NOT need to support a royal family...we have enough poor here to support as it is.

Ummm, were you sleeping in class when they discussed the creation of the American Constitution or the War of Independence from Brittain and its King that ended in 1776? Ever heard of the Boston Tea Party?

Because in 1776 the colonists were crying over having to pay some taxes so they made a scene, got the French to help them fight Britain, leading Britain to say "They want to be independant? Fine. Let them." Because the 13 Colonies were now independant, they decided "Hey, let's be cool and elect our leader, and we'll give him, like, awesome powers." So they did and the USA has sucked ever since. Sorry.

It's true that I hear that Americans say they don't need a King or Queen--no figurehead for their country. They say they are a democracy and the land of the free. Then will someone please explain to me why so many American people seem to worship the British Royals? Also, if Americans aren't supposed to like them, why do so many American celebrities go living in England, buying castles, and aping Royalty? Sounds like a little bit of hypocrisy to me. Why don't you guys just admit you do like them, and you wish you did have them, instead of a President who can't even make a speech without swallowing and changing words, and looking like a court jester, rather than a man of his office.
