after installing an IM provider's toolbar, that provider overrode my homepage and i can't seem to restore it. i keep getting Page Error msg whenever i try to change my homepage back. I want my homepage to reflect my ISP, not my IM provider.

Have you since uninstalled the toolbar. If you have, then try downloading and running cwshredder.

this wouldn't happen if you were running a firewall. the best one is a router with built in firewall. even if you have no plans to network your computers each one should still have a router with built in firewall.

the router has a different ip number than your computer. if people are tracing you all they will get is the ip number or the router. the built in firewall stops things in their tracks before they get on your computer.

software firewall installed on your hard drive can only deal with things after they are on your hard drive.
