The squeaky wheel gets the oil. This means, be agressive. Don't just apply, follow up with phone calls. When you fill out an application or submit a resume, ask if you can have an interview now. If this is not possible, ask when is the earliest possible time you can get one.

Use your free time to do community service work. I realize this won't pay money but it could eventually put you in a paid position with the organization. It will also give you new skills to add to your existing resume and might expose you to a hidden talent or a career that you never considered exploring. It will also give you something to occupy your time and an opportunity to do some good for others.

I had an interview 2 months ago and they told me they had gotten over 300 resumes within 24 hours. WHY? because a lot of people are unemployed right now and people are applying left and right for the same position you are, they probably don't even get to your resume.

It could be your attitude - just going on the way you asked this question. Or it might be the way you look, the way you dress, the way you hold or hang your head.

IF you go into any interview not looking confident, then you dont sound confident. IF you dont sound confident, then they think maybe you cant do the job, so you dont get it.

You might need to redo your resume, and work out what skills you have, and what knowledge you know.

Offer to start as a dishwasher or a prep cook so the employers can get to know you and your dependability.
