when something finally catches your eyes,
but then find out the amount of work invoved or even the people invovled scares you.
darn, what do yo do when you find
the one thing your good at
is kinda lame, but you know you have some talent at least.

Go for it. If you don't even try for what you really want, are you really living? Life is an adventure; the path that scares you is often the one you're meant to take.

If it's something you like doing, then don't worry about the amount of work involved. Your passion will keep you motivated.
Why do the people involved scare you, though? Is it because they're dangerous or a bunch of jerks just intimidating? I say if they're just intimidating then you'll get used to them over time. If they're a bunch of jerks, though, it may end up sucking the fun out of your job, so I'd be careful.

the people won't be so scary later...
ask the scary people to help you.
start now. dedicate yourself and put in the work.
