It is recommended that pregnant women DO NOT color or perm their hair (or any other process that uses chemicals). You could color your hair with natual dyes such as henna in the mean time if you are concerned.

Although it is recommended to not use chemicals on your hair, some doctors say it is okay. I guess it just boils down to whatever you feel more comfortable with.

Check my source link for info I found using Google.

Is it safe to dye my hair while pregnant?
There are conflicting reports about the safety of hair dye during pregnancy: Several studies found no ill effects on pregnant rodents given 100 times the typical human dose of these products, whereas British researchers reported chromosome damage among women who dyed their hair. Although this study was not conducted on pregnant women, this finding suggests that there may be some risk to coloring your hair while pregnant.

As a precaution, some physicians advise you to avoid hair color until after your first trimester (the period when your baby's vital organs, head, body and limbs form). Colorants made from vegetable dyes such as henna are preferable to the chemical dyes used in permanent and semi-permanent formulas. Recent studies indicate that hair dyes contain relatively high levels of bio-available lead acetate that can be harmful to the fetus, particularly the nervous system and brain. Check the product label and avoid lead based hair products.

I have been dying my hair since I was 11 (ya I said 11) and I stopped when I was preggo...those chemicals are toxic. They make me gag when I'm not pregnant...I would have died if I'd tried to do it preggo...

And don't listen to anyone on here that says "oh I did it and my kids are fine!!" Lemme tell you from experience...lol, a mother's love is blind...Her definition of "fine" may be different than yours.

It's common sense...is it toxic?
Would I want my baby rolling around in it?
Would you let the baby sit in the same room with you while you did it?

Its the same when they're in utero...dont' do anything you wouldn't do when they're out.

You're baby's health and development is more important than your roots.

i like this question reason anybody says no many times. sure its risk-free there use to be a concern that the chemical aspects seep into th scalp and might get into your bloodstream therefor get to the newborn. whether it did not adequate chemical could get into the scalp to do harm. in case you do be sure you do it in a nicely ventilated section simply by fact the scent can somewhat get to you. additionally be careful of reds and blonds simply by hormones on your physique they won't come out the way you anticipate them too. I dye my hair and bleached my hair throughout the time of my pregnancies. I definitely have not something yet healthful infants. The docs and np's i artwork for do not recommend against it the two.

You wouldn't want to put your baby at any extra risk.
My doc said that hair-dying is not recommended but it shouldnt be a problem. I would suggest that if you are going to dye your hair, wait until you're past the 1st trimester, where its at the highest risk.
