We breed fish for local and non-local pet supply stores. I can tell you that Guppies are pretty funny when it comes to their breeding and pregnancy time. If you decide to breed again and you know she is pregnant, then try feeding her fresh brine shrimp, or freezed dried shrimp. She needs alot of proteins and these will provide her with such. Also you might try taking your water to your local pet store and have them test it. Some times bottled water for pregnant fish is best, also use some stress coat, cause this time is stressful for her.

A black spot isn't usually a sign of disease or pregnancy in goldfish, and forget about what people say about ammonia burning the fishes skin, this has never been proved and there is no evidence to back up such claims. The spot is more than likely due to the pigment cells within the fish's skin. Goldfish have three different types of skin pigment cells, and a goldfish that turns black has a large amount of melanophores containing the dark pigment melanin. As for the strange behaviour in the fish I would test the water for pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and carry out a partial water change, also review the diet. Wether your fish are pregnant or not will depend on the sexes of both fish, during the breeding season males develope small white lumps called tubercles on the gill covers, if one of your fish has these features and the other doesn't then it is quite likely that you have a pair.

Sorry about the lose guppygurl and also sorry to say there may be no way to every know the answer. Fish, just like people and all other animals sometimes have problems with pregnancy and die due to complications.
It is also quite possible she died from something not relanted to being pregnant, but to be honest you will probably never know.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but I think that's just nature and part of living and death.

There is no definite way of ever knowing. She may not have been pregnant, maybe some tumor or constipation. Moving her could have been a shock for her,she needed rest. It may have been her first pregnancy and the exit was not open enough.

She was "egg bound". This happens occasionally. Her birth canal was unable to pass eggs/fish through. I've never done guppys, but breed cichlids, and it has happened to me also. Sorry for your loss.

She probably had a disease called dropsy. Do you test your water for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates?
