ANY CREATIVE IDEAS??

Should we just make it a little earlier in the day? The only thing is it's going to be warm outside. The later the better.

I should mention that we DO plan on having a tent, but the funds are low so we're looking to cut back. We're paying for everything ourselves and we have thought of ways to cut back on other things as well.

--Strings of little white lights (typically used for Xmas) if there are trees or shrubbery around the area to put them on (or tables?)
--Individual torches (you can "dig" into the ground - some are citronella which can be great in warm weather for bugs)
--Lanterns (hanging)
--Small paper bags with lit candles in each can be used to line paths, one on each table, or placed however you want throughout the area

Hope this helps!

Im getting married this summer in the evening and we too planned on having a tent but the budget now we are having to change plans. Try using plenty of candels. They can make an evening very romantic. If you are having the ceremony outside as well. Purchase the tube lights and let light your path down the aisle. Use paper lanterns or buy stringed lights and you can arrange them over head of people. Tikki torches always work as well. There is so much you can do, but nothing is more romantic than the moonlight over head and candles all around. hope this help and good luck.

if you are having a fall event, you can do what we did, buy a whole bunch of gourds (cheap in the fall) and use a forstner bit to drill a shallow hole in them, then place tea lights in them and use them on the tables in clusters or by themselves. you might be able to find some other fun vegetable or fruit to do this with if it's a summer wedding. Also, cheap white christmas lights wrapped in that cheap netting (they come on big spools like fat ribbon) and trailed down the center of the table works well.
if you have access to any ficus trees, you can put the lights in those too and have them around the corners of the area. Paper lanterns from a party store might also be an option

also...scan the thrift stores for old, but pretty china and mismatched silver trays, fingerbowls, and candlesticks, you can put floating candles and flower petals in those and group them. strings of cheap "pearls" mixed around the groups looks neat too.

Hit the 99 cents only store they have electric candles at 2 for 99cents. if you got a bunch of those, decorate with ribbons of your wedding colors and then run White or multicolor string lights with lanterns and other easy patio lighting. to keep your budget too remember your friends and family want to help borrow their outdoor lighting and tables/chairs etc. You could even borrow patio canopies they are usually 10x10 and set for to six side by side and string lights over the legs to make a clever and colorful room. If you are creative or handy with tools you could make a canopy with garden posts and a white canvas drop cloth it will be lovely and under $100 for the whole set up.Never be afraid of having a gypsy themed event it will also help with the food planning and make for a festive and fun event. Good Luck!

Tiki torch's we have some in our backyard they give off good light, and you can now get them in different styles. Plus I'm guessing it will be a summer wedding, so it will also keep the bugs away.
Or X-Mass lights you know the white ones. You can put them on the trees or make polls for them.
Or try renting I'm sure they do some kind of lights.
Anyway best wishes and have a wonderful wedding.

Candelabras with mirrors will throw more light than a candle alone. Backup the candles, however, in case you have wind which will blow our your light.

Use karosene lamps for a protected light, and brighter to boot. Indirect electrical lighting when thrown against a white building can add a lot of extra light and atmosphere.
